CALLING ALL COOKS: Special Olympics Unified Games – Volunteers needed

The Special Olympics Unified Games needs our help!

Special Olympics has chosen Detroit as the host for their international soccer tournament! Michigan Knights of Columbus will be preparing and serving dinner for the Special Olympics Unified Games on Friday, August 5th at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit. We expect to serve bagged meals to 800-1,000 participants. We encourage you to volunteer for this special opportunity. Please note that your family members are welcome to sign up (14+ years only) but all minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you can, please volunteer for this! The dinner will be prepared and served on August 5th. We need your help to prepare and serve the food to the Special Olympic participants.

Date: Friday, August 5, 2022
Location: The Corner Ballpark, 1680 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216
3 Shifts:

2-4pm – Setup (Includes preparing grills, tents, food prep line, food serving line, etc.)
3:30-7pm – Cooking & Serving (Includes grilling chicken breasts, assembling chicken sandwiches, loading items into the serving bag, distributing food to the participants, etc.)
6:30-8:30pm – Cleanup (Includes packing up any unused food, cleaning the food prep and serving area, removing tents & grills, etc.)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – Council 3956 Free Throw Championship At St. Pius X School On Wednesday, January 19th

This is a great opportunity for any Brother Knight that is retired or available during school hours to help in one of our Faith In Action Programs.

We are hosting a Council Level Event of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition being held at St. Pius X School on Wednesday, January 19th during school hours.

We need at least 4 volunteers each hour to make this event a success. Please click on the button below and volunteer for one or more hours. We need a full volunteer list in order to make this a success.

Volunteers Needed – Coats for Kids Distribution in Ecorse

Brother Knights, Family and Friends of Council 3956 (and District 105),

District 105 (hosted by Robert Jones Council 3956) is having a Coats for Kids Distribution THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13th at St. André Bessette Parish (4250 W Jefferson Ave, Ecorse, MI 48229) from 10AM to 1PM.

We need VOLUNTEERS to help with setup, distribution and cleanup for this event!!! Please plan on being there by 9AM to assist with setup, but if you can’t make it then, please come anyway to assist. Many hands make light work!!!

Volunteer Opportunity – Coats for Kids Detroit Distribution

We are inviting all interested Knights and their families to the Coats for Kids distribution (through the Coats for Kids Program) our Council is participating in. Our District has amassed well over 150 coats to give away! (Our Council has purchased 96 alone!)

This volunteer opportunity is open to Knights and their families, as well as Catholic men and their families interested in learning more about what we as Knights do!

It will be an enjoyable event for the whole family.

The event is being held next Saturday, December 12th at:
Basilica of Sainte Anne de Detroit
1000 St. Anne St.
Detroit, MI 48216

Volunteers should arrive @ 9:00 am.
The event should end @ 2:00 pm.
Please send Financial Secretary Ray Bilyk an email (raybilyk@kofc3956.org) if you’re interested in attending so that we can alert the District Deputy.

Father Suresh has asked the Knights to paint the signs in front of Church yellow and/or blue. Most are the handicapped signs. Would you be able to donate a few hours Wednesday, July 1st at 7 PM? We still have refreshments from our cookout. We world love to see you smiling face!
